Laboratory of Molecular Biology

The aim of our research group is to investigate the pathogenesis of immune-mediated, polygenic, multifactorial skin diseases (e.g., psoriasis, acne), commonly occurring in the Hungarian population. We are also interested in studying the interaction between skin cells and various members of the cutaneous microbiome in healthy and pathogenic conditions. Besides these clinically oriented basic research projects we also perform routine clinical diagnostic procedures in our laboratory.

Research topics:
  • Investigating the interaction of skin cells and various members of the cutaneous microbiome
  • Studies on Cutibacterium acnes bacterium-induced signalling events in keratinocytes
  • Psoriasis-related immune- and stress responses of keratinocytes
  • Investigating transcriptional regulatory factors playing a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis

Routine clinical examinations:

  • Investigation of tissue samples for the detection of autoimmune blistering skin disease (IIF)
  • Bee/wasp allergy determination (ELISA)
  • Collecting and processing blood samples for Quantiferon analysis
  • Collecting blood samples for clinical examinations
  • Collecting biological samples for the determination of different fungal infections
