How to get your Student Card

The Hungarian Student ID Card is an official document that certifies your student status at the University of Szeged. It entitles you to a wide range of student discounts, including reduced fares on public transportation, trains and buses, as well as discounted admission to many museums, cinemas, cultural institutions, and other services throughout Hungary.

The application process is managed by the Students' Service Office (HSZI), located in the József Attila Study and Information Centre (TIK).

Temporary Student ID Certificate

If your permanent Student ID Card has not yet been issued, you can request a Temporary Student ID Certificate from the Students' Service Office (HSZI). The certificate is generally valid for 60 days and provides the same student benefits until your permanent card is ready.

To obtain a Temporary Student ID Certificate:

  • Make sure your student status is active in Neptun.
  • Visit the Students' Service Office (HSZI) with your passport or other valid identification document.

Permanent Student ID Card

To apply for a permanent Hungarian Student ID Card, you must first obtain a NEK Data Sheet.

The NEK Data Sheet is an official document required for obtaining a Hungarian Student ID Card. It is not issued automatically. To receive it, you must visit a designated Government Office (Kormányablak) in person, where your official photo and signature will be taken.

Students in Szeged can obtain their NEK Data Sheet at:

Government Office (Kormányablak)
6722 Szeged, Rákóczi tér 1.

When you arrive, inform the staff that you would like to apply for a NEK Data Sheet for your Student ID Card.

Please bring:

  • Your passport or national ID card
  • A certificate of active student status (if requested)
  • Your admission letter or certificate of enrollment (if requested)

After receiving your NEK Data Sheet, submit the signed original document to the Students' Service Office (HSZI) at the József Attila Study and Information Centre (TIK). The University will then initiate your Student ID Card application.

You will be notified by the Students' Service Office when your Student ID Card is ready for collection.
