Szeged has an extensive public transportation network of buses, trolley buses, and trams in place.

Getting around Szeged is easy with public transportation. Single tickets vary in price depending on how you buy them:

  • Pre-purchased in advance: HUF 470 (around EUR 1.30) at ticket kiosks or partner vendors, where you can pay cash or card.
  • Mobile app or onboard machine: You can buy your ticket via the Közlekedési Mobiljegy app before your journey for HUF 550 (around 1.50) or using a card at the onboard ticket machines.
  • From the driver (cash only): HUF 650 (around EUR 1.80).

How to Buy & Validate Tickets

  • Mobile app: You can buy your ticket with the Közlekedési Mobiljegy before your journey and validate it by scanning the QR code inside the vehicle. Always remember to validate your ticket to avoid fines.
  • Ticket kiosks: Tickets and passes are available at official SZKT ticket points, where you can pay by cash or card.
  • On board: You can buy single tickets from onboard ticket machines (card only) or directly from the driver (cash only).

Student Passes

For regular travel within Szeged, students can purchase a discounted Monthly Pass for HUF 5800 (around EUR 16) with a valid student ID. If you travel outside the city, the discounted County Pass for HUF 1890 (around EUR 5.20) offers unlimited travel on regional buses and trains, including the Tram-Train between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely.

Routes & Schedules

You can check routes and schedules using Google Maps, the Menetrend.app mobile application, or the official SZKT website. Night buses (91E, 92E, 93E) operate on Fridays, public holidays, and days before non-working days.
