BYD Counts on the Expertise of Young, Highly Qualified Hungarian Talent

Budapest and Szeged, Hungary, September 26, 2024 – BYD places strong emphasis on Hungarian expertise and innovation in its local operations, as highlighted by Jerry Xun, Deputy General Manager of Human Resources at the global company, during his recent visit to Budapest and Szeged. Global leader in new energy vehicle production BYD, currently constructing a car plant in Szeged, held discussions with Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation; István Joó, CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA); as well as representatives from the University of Szeged and the vocational training centers in Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely.

A BYD delegation responsible for Vocational Training and HR Affairs recently visited Hungary. The company's representatives were received by Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation, and István Joó, CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). The BYD delegation then travelled to Szeged to meet with key figures in local higher education and vocational training.

World leader in new energy vehicles BYD is building its first European car plant in Szeged, which will be capable of producing up to 300,000 cars a year. The company will create thousands of jobs in the region, and strives to rely mainly on local labor.

"We appreciate the hard work of the educational institutions in Hungary and Szeged. We consider it important to establish effective cooperation, as we attach great importance to Hungarian expertise and innovative approach in our activities here" – emphasized Jerry Xun, Human Resource Deputy General Manager of the global company, leader of the delegation.

He mentioned that several discussions have already taken place with the University of Szeged, which will be an integral part of BYD's operations by offering valuable expertise and driving local innovation.

The delegation met with representatives of the vocational training centers in Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely, and visited Csonka János Technical High School and Déri Miksa Technical High School of Technology in Szeged.
