According to the QS ranking, SZTE is again the Best Hungarian University this Year

The University of Szeged was ranked as the best Hungarian university in the recently published Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world ranking.

For this year's ranking, the UK firm has made several changes to its ranking practice, introducing new criteria and adjusting the weighting of some of its indicators. SZTE was ranked 601-610th in this year's ranking, in which ten Hungarian institutions were included alongside the university next to the river Tisza.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), one of the best-known companies for certifying higher education activities, produces its world ranking every year. For this year's 20th anniversary ranking, QS has made a number of changes, introducing new indicators and adjusting the percentage weighting of some of its assessment criteria. This way, the international ranking can faithfully reflect the changing trends and priorities in higher education in recent years, and better help prospective students to find the institutions that are right for them. According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, published on 27th of June, the University of Szeged remains the best university in Hungary. In the international field, SZTE ranked 601-610, together with institutions such as Kingston University in London, Drexler University in the US (Philadelphia) and Charles Darwin University in Australia.

This year, the QS Excellence in Higher Education ranking has increased its criterias from six to nine criteria for the world's higher education institutions: Academic reputation (30% this year instead of 40%), employer reputation (15% instead of 10%), faculty to student ratio (10% instead of 20%), citations per faculty (20%), international student ratio (5%) and international faculty ratio (5%), and, for the first time the following three indicators has also been measured: the international research network (5%), the employment outcomes (5%), and sustainability (5%).

SZTE has been consistently ranked the best Hungarian higher education institution for more than a decade, ranking first among the Hungarian universities surveyed.
