The University Spring Festival, traditional programme cavalcade of University of Szeged, awaits the university citizens, and residents of the city with hundreds of events for 7 weeks. You can choose from nearly 300 events* from 6 April to 25 May 2022. There are exhibitions, academic and educational lectures, conferences, theatre performances, concerts, and entertainment programmes at 70 venues.
The University Spring Festival is the most prestigious spring event series of the University of Szeged, organised for the 17th times by the Cultural Office of the Directorate for International Affairs and Public Relations. The official opening ceremony of the festival traditionally takes place on Poetry Day, 11 April.
In course of the centenary year of the university, several programmes are related to the history of the university, and its former reputed students. Among many others, an exhibition of Miklós Müller's photographs will open in the Rector's Building on 11 April 2022 at 18:00, and the University of Szeged Theatre in its performance evokes Albert Szent-Györgyi, the former renowned scientist, and rector of the university.
An outstanding event, Radnóti from one to one, takes place on 5 May on birthday of the poet Miklós Radnóti, a former student of our university, where all the poems will be read out from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m., with the contribution of various university, city organizations and communities.
The popular series of classical music concerts continue in the Rector's Building Ceremonial Hall, including performers such as Zsuzsanna Császár pianist, and Máté Tomasz cellist, Márton Szives, and the Alföld Quartet, Dávid Pavlovits, and Péter Girán guitarists.
The programme includes a concert by the Universitas Symphony Orchestra, and the Szeged University Choir, as well as the Musician Doctors’ spring concert. Former students of the university give concerts for their Alma Mater: Sugárka Enyedi waits jazz lovers in the Radnóti Café. As a closing event of the University Spring Festival, Flóra Tandi presents her new album here with renowned guest artists as Erika Miklósa, and Kati Wolf on 25 May.
Festival in the Festival: a new event is added to the spring programme, the First Triplex Fest Szeged - Hármashatár Festival awaits the music fans with concerts by Parno Graszt, Besh o DroM, Aurevoir, and danceries.
The traditional Poem at Noon series are continued: during the University Spring Festival, citizens or residents of Szeged can recite, read or perform one of his or her favourite poems in front of the Rector's Office of the University of Szeged, at the statue of Albert Szent-Györgyi, on weekdays at 12:10 p.m.
