Students studying in Hungary with the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship received the "Outstanding Study Award" from Miklós Lengyel, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, on 23rd of November, 2022. Two agricultural engineering students of the University of Szeged were honoured at the prestigious event.
In his speech, the State Secretary emphasized that the fresh Stipendium Hungaricum students participating in the event will get to know Hungary, Hungarian history, culture and life in general better, and will be able to use these experiences at home, thus strengthening the relations between the countries.
Following his speech, the Minister of State, together with Gábor Dobos, Director of Internationalisation of Higher Education, Study In Hungary, presented the Stipendium Hungaricum Student Excellence Awards to the scholarship holders with outstanding achievements. The Stipendium Hungaricum Student Excellence Awards were given to Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship holders who have achieved outstanding results and have contributed the most to the development of the Stipendium Hungaricum community.
Two Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship students with excellent academic results at the University of Szeged, Afiqah Izzati Bindi Sundusin and Nhu Doan Y Phuong, both second-year agricultural engineering students at the Faculty of Agriculture, also contributed to this goal.
“This is a great honour for us, as the two winners were chosen from over 700 Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holders from Szeged. It is a fantastic experience for the students as well, as it is a great recognition for them and they are proud to be an important part of the University of Szeged and the country." - Said Diana Katsidis, International Officer at the Rector’s Department, Office for International Scholarship Programmes, who personally accompanied the students to the award ceremony.
The Secretary of State's welcome and the award ceremony were followed by lunch, where the participants shared their experiences and impressions of Hungary.
After the lunch break, the students were taken on a tour in Budapest, capital of Hungary. They were able to see the most important sights of the capital and learn more about Hungarian culture in an intercultural community-building session.
The workshop was an excellent opportunity for students from all over the world to meet in Hungary and learn about each other and our culture. During the community-building training, the students were first grouped in pairs to feel that they were part of a group. The exercises were designed to help dissolve cultural differences and to allow students to mingle with each other with genuine openness.
At the moment, application for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship for the Fall Semester of the 2023/24 intake is open. Detailed information regarding this scholarship are available here.
