The University of Szeged has improved its ranking in physics from last year on ARWU’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. In clinical medicine it has maintained its position from 2020. These results make the institution the second best Hungarian University in both subjects.
The University of Szeged has been included in the GRAS (Global Rankings of Academic Subjects) ranking published on 26 May in two subjects. In physics, the institution has been ranked for several years. This year, the university has moved up the ranking to 301 - 400, making the physics programme of the University of Szeged the second best in Hungary. The university has also been included in the ranking of clinical medicine: SZTE maintains its previous position of 401-500, and as such, remains the second best institution in this field in Hungary.
Every year, ShanghaiRanking publishes a list of the world's best universities by subject. After thorough evaluation of their academic work, more than 1,800 out of 4,000 universities are finally listed in the rankings.
In 2021 the rankings cover 54 subjects in life sciences, natural sciences, engineering, medical sciences and social sciences. Bibliometric data are collected from Web of Science and InCites. The ranking takes into account the number of scientific papers published in journals with Q1 Journal Impact Factor Quartile, the citation rate, the proportion of co-authored papers with foreign co-authors, and the number of scientific papers presented in the most prestigious journals and conferences. In addition, the number of academics and researchers who have received major awards is also taken into account.
