In the presence of the Spanish Royal Family, Katalin Karikó will be awarded the Princess of Asturias Award today on the 22nd of October, 2021. The world-famous biochemist and alumna of the University of Szeged, who has been awarded the Széchenyi and Lasker Prize among others.

Katalin Karikó spent the whole week in the capital of the Principality of Asturias. In Oviedo, the researcher who has contributed to the rapid development of modern vaccines to control the Covid-19 epidemic also promoted science during the so-called Prize Week. These awareness-raising and motivational programmes were also reported on the University of Szeged's Facebook and Twitter pages.
