A Strategic Agreement was Signed Between the University of Szeged and the University of Novi Sad

As a new level of Hungarian-Serbian relations, on 21st of January 2020, a Cooperation Agreement concerning the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina was signed by the State Secretary for Health at the Ministry of Human Capacities and the Provincial Secretary for Healthcare in Vojvodina at the University of Szeged. On this significant occasion, the SZTE entered a strategic agreement, thus deepening its relations with the University of Novi Sad.

The University of Szeged and the University of Novi Sad are among the most renowned higher educational and research centres in Central Europe. The two institutions have a close professional relationship for decades, focusing on health sciences, pharmaceutical research and information technology. Our aim is to provide mutual help to improve the efficiency of health care in the Southern Great Plain Region and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, and to accelerate its development said Prof. Dr. László Rovó, Rector of the University of Szeged. He greeted the guests of SZTE on the occasion of the renewed relationship between the two universities which took place at the SZTE Rector’s Office and the signing of an agreement on the deepening of cooperation between the health departments of the two countries.

On the 21st of January 2020, the meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ildikó Horváth, State Secretary for Health at the Ministry of Human Capacities and Prof. Dr. Zoran Gojković, Provincial Secretary for Healthcare of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina; while the SZTE was represented by Prof. Dr. László Rovó Rector and Dr. Judit Fendler Chancellor; the University of Novi Sad was represented by Prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić.

The scientific cooperation between the universities of Szeged and Novi Sad, and the closer relationship between the ministries of health of the two countries will also benefit the population of the region in the field of education and health said the Rector of the University of Szeged. About the content of the institutional cooperation, he added that in the future, besides developing joint training programs, they will strive to strengthen student and researcher mobility, and will work together in developing research programs and organizing joint professional events.

In recent years, cooperation between Hungary and Serbia has become ever closer, of which healthcare is an important pillar. The details of this agreement, dated September 3, 2019 between the the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Hungarian Ministry of Human Capacities, includes the specific involvement of health professionals from the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina emphasized Prof. Dr. Ildikó Horváth. As an example, the Ministry of Human Capacities State Secretary for Health mentioned that a forthcoming Central and Eastern European oncology meeting would be co-chaired by a professor from Vojvodina and Budapest. In the area of ​​organ transplantation, it will be possible for patients from the neighbouring country who need lung transplantation to be operated in a Hungarian centre. Exchange of experience on screening for lung cancer and rare diseases will also be useful in both regions.

Thanks to the framework agreement establishing health cooperation between the two countries, an intensive relationship was established between Vojvodina and Hungary in this area said Prof. Dr. Zoran Gojković, the Provincial Secretary for Healthcare of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, who mentioned as an example that they are exchanging their experiences using new methods of curing diseases. He welcomed the new opportunities for the transfer of knowledge and experience. He promised that the new initiatives would continue to be supported by the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. He thanked Zoltán Balázs-Piri, Ministerial Adviser, who also attended the event, and István Pásztor, President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, for the achievements they have accomplished so far.

Implementing the protocol of the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina has been signed by Prof. Dr. Ildikó Horváth, the State Secretary for Health at the Ministry of Human Capacities and Prof. Dr. Zoran Gojković, Provincial Secretary for Healthcare of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

We are reinforcing and adding some new elements to the high-quality cooperation between our institution and the University of Szeged which has existed for decades emphasized Prof. Dr, Dejan Jakšić, rector of the University of Novi Sad. He also added: there is a regional problem of drop-outs and the migration of skilled workers. These issues will also be addressed by the deeper scientific cooperation between the two institutions, and the coordination of health-related training and basic research.

Tamerlan Mendybayev – Faculty of Agriculture

My name is Tamerlan Mendybayev. I am from capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan. Currently I am first year student at the Faculty of Agriculture. I chose the University of Szeged as my study destination for several reasons: firstly, it is a well-known applied science institution in Europe and the best in Hungary. Secondly, the program is designed with a significant focus on the developing practical skills of the students and there is a University pilot farm where students keen their skills and implement their knowledge in practice. Undoubtedly, University of Szeged is a place where students become professionals in their academic field.

Hamza Baniata – Faculty of Science and Informatics

I am Hamza Baniata, a first-year student at the Doctoral School of Computer Science, and I am From Jordan. SZTE is continuously supporting research and it has an internationally recognized, highly ranked group of professors. It also offers courses and research topics that are strongly related to my research field; Cloud Computing, Fog Computing and Internet of Things. All of this motivated me to apply to the University/Department of Software Engineering. Szeged is a calm city, full of love and peace. The University of Szeged is similar to the city, which provides the perfect environment for creation and development. Studying at the university requires a high level of effort, commitment and seriousness. Applying to the university and having these characteristics are my two pieces of advice to prospective students. It is very early to define my future now, but I am planning to apply to a research position in my field after graduation and if I had the opportunity, I would love to contribute my effort and knowledge in advancing such a wonderful and respected university.
