The University of Szeged is aware that times are hard for applicants intending to pursue studies abroad, as well as for students who are already studying in foreign countries. Due to the pandemic situation regulations change day by day which can make it hard to keep up with the information that is most relevant to you.

However, on behalf of the University of Szeged, what we can definitely state is, that the academic year will begin in the fall. Either in the traditional way, requiring personal presence, or online. Based on the experiences of the last semester, we are prepared for online teaching. The final scenario will depend on the pandemic regulations which will be in force at the end of August.

We are happy to inform you that some of the travel restrictions has been lifted. See the details and the conditions of entering Hungary here.

Please note that the regulations may change according to the status of the pandemic. Always make sure to consult the Hungarian Consulate in your country regarding any questions or concerns you may have.

According to the latest information provided by the Hungarian Consulate, students holding residence permit or student visa and are able to present these documents at the border upon arriving to Hungary, have to undergo a medical examination (measuring body temperature, questionnaire) at the airport and will be assigned under home quarantine for 14 days. Students can be exempted from home quarantine in the case that he or she can provide a certificate which proves that the student has undergone two SARS-CoV-2 tests not longer than 5 days ago and both tests came back negative.

In case an arriving student is suspected to be infected with the COVID-19, the place and conditions of quarantine will be set centrally by the Government.

Please rest assured that we are trying to cope with the situation as flexible as possible and that we will do everything within our power to keep our students updated and help them in the necessary procedures.
