The University of Szeged is the 3rd on the EU Erasmus+ toplist in 2015

As for the Erasmus+ the teaching staff of the University of Szeged (USz) is the most motivated and mobile to deliver courses and lectures at E+ partner institutions. Among the Hungarian HEIs the USz is the leading one while it is the third according to the statistics of the EU E+ ranking.

The University of Szeged has 484 E+ partner institutions and nearly 1.000 bilateral agreements Europe-wide – said Ms. Gabriella Balog Molnár, institutional programme coordinator and Head of the International Mobility Centre (IMC) of the USz. Our 255 teachers delivered lectures at foreign partner institutions in an amount of 1275 days. As an avarage 100-150 guest professors visit the 12 faculties of the University of Szeged each academic year.


The E+ programme, which started in 1997 at the USz, is managed by the International Mobility Centre’s staff: Ms. Ágnes Pető, Ms. Edit Tanács and Mr. Tibor Zilahi with the coordination of Ms. Gabriella Balog Molnár. During the 20 years of the programme the teamwork of the ICM recognized by several national, international and European Union awards.


In the last 20 years 4799 USz students completed one or two study semesters or internships abroad. 2652 Erasmus+ incoming students and interns were accepted at the university. 2627 teachers of the USz academic staff gave lectures at partner institutions and 1292 guest lecturers visited the USz 12 faculties each of them for one week

 

The Erasmus Student Network’s local section, which was founded 15 years ago, greatly contributed to the success of the programme. The mentors of this volunteer organization help the incoming students in their daily lives, in close cooperation with the SZTE’s International Mobility Centre.

 

USz has gained more than 1 million euros support for realising E+ mobility programme in the 2017/2018 academic year

 

The USz has gained 1 million 44 thousand euros totally for the 2017/2018 academic year. 820 thousand euros for E+ cooperations with programme and 224 thousand euros with partner countries. The last one is dedicated to finance the international credit mobility programme with HEIs in the partner countries – explained Ms. Gabriella Balog Molnár.

 

In addition, the Erasmus + budget increased by 7.5% compared to the previous year, and in 2016 the EU spent a record magnitude of EUR 2.27 billion on the programme.


The USz accepts the second largest number of incoming Erasmus students in Hungary

 

21 thousand programmes were supported in 2016, in which 79 thousand of educational, training and youth organisations participated, it is 15% more than that of 2015.

In the academic year 2015/2016 330 thousand college and university students and teachers in higher education institutions gained experience abroad totally by the courtesy of Erasmus +.

 

The Eötvös Loránd University, the University of Szeged, and the Corvinus University are the most active in realizing student and teacher mobilities show the data of the Tempus Public Fundation.

 

The three most popular destinations among Hungarian college and university students were Germany, Romania and Spain. Nearly 8.000 students, interns and higher education employees came to Hungary in 2015/2016.
