Az Európai Bioinformatikai Intézet igazgatójának előadása az SZBK-ban

Az Európai Molekuláris Biológiai Laboratórium Európai Bioinformatikai Intézete (EMBL-EBI) június 27-én délután 14:00-ás kezdettel előadásra invitál minden érdeklődőt a nyílt hozzáférésű adatok fontosságáról, valamint az Intézet innovatív bioinformatikai projektjeiről. A Szegedi Biológiai Kutatóközpont Kondorosi Ádámról elnevezett konferenciatermében tartott rendezvény előadója Rolf Apweiler, az Intézet igazgatója lesz.

Az előadás nyelve angol. A rendezvényen való részvétel ingyenes, felmerülő kérdések esetén pedig keressék bizalommal Siklós Lászlót, a Kutatóközpont kommunikációs referensét.

EMBL's European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) maintains the world’s most comprehensive range of freely available and up-to-date molecular data resources. Developed in collaboration with our colleagues worldwide, our services promote to share data, perform complex queries and analyse the results in different ways.
In my presentation I like to highlight how our open data resources enable AI approaches and give some recent examples of innovative EMBL-EBI AI projects and partnerships. One of these is AlphaFold, a state-of-the-art AI system developed by DeepMind, which is able to computationally predict protein structures with unprecedented accuracy. These predictions are being made freely and openly available to the global scientific community in partnership with EMBL-EBI.
Open Targets is an innovative, large-scale, multi-year, public-private partnership that uses human genetics and genomics data for systematic drug target identification and prioritisation.
These and related projects are opening up new and exciting research avenues to dramatically deepen our understanding of human health, disease and our environment, with implications for areas like drug design and sustainability.
