Between October 31 and November 3, 2025, a delegation from SZTE’s Faculty of Engineering visited China to strengthen ties with partner institutions and explore new opportunities for collaboration in research and education.
SZTE’s Faculty of Engineering – the hub of engineering education in Szeged – has long prioritized both attracting students from across Hungary and building international partnerships, with a strong focus on industry collaboration. During their recent visit to China, faculty representatives once again set out to deepen scientific ties with Asian partners and expand opportunities for faculty and student mobility.

Participants at the prestigious event represented a diverse range of countries, including China, North Korea, Brazil, Spain, Poland, Serbia, and Hungary. Notably, the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Engineering was invited to the annual scientific conference by Ningbo University – one of China’s top 100 higher education institutions.

Beyond the scientific symposium, the delegation of the Faculty of Engineering also took time to engage with potential partners, aiming to strengthen its connections that span continents.
“During the conference, we explored new avenues for collaboration that align well with the Faculty’s short-term strategy,” said Prof. Dr. József Sárosi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. “In addition to promising prospects for joint research projects and publications, we also look forward to welcoming new PhD students in the near future. In this context, it is encouraging to see that more and more of our departments are forming partnerships across East Asia. Alongside the Department of Mechatronics and Automation and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Biosystems Engineering may also take part in joint research if our grant proposals are successful. As for this particular visit, apart from the conference itself, we also had the opportunity to experience China’s rich culture and enjoy its regional cuisines together with fellow researchers from around the world who had gathered in Ningbo.”
