Shaping Education Across Borders: ABC Learning Design workshop at SZTE

On September 28–29, 2025, the University of Szeged hosted the ABC Learning Design: Train-the-Trainer workshop, organized within the framework of the EUGLOH (European University Alliance for Global Health) Alliance. During the training, instructors from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and UiT The Arctic University of Norway introduced participants to both the theoretical underpinnings and practical application of the collaborative ABC Learning Design methodology.

The University of Szeged recently hosted a two-day ABC Learning Design training, which brought together twenty-three instructors and education professionals from five partner institutions within the EUGLOH Alliance. A key element of the workshop was its unique, hands-on approach: participants worked in teams to design institution-specific implementation plans for applying the ABC Learning Design method. The program fostered active teamwork and collective reflection, with each team showcasing their implementation concept.

The ABC Learning Design method is a fast-paced, interactive approach to curriculum planning that supports the alignment of learning objectives, teaching activities, and assessment methods in a flexible and structured way. It is particularly well-suited for designing online and blended learning environments. According to feedback from participants, the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop are expected to make a meaningful contribution to the renewal of course and curriculum design processes at their respective institutions.

All participants left the workshop inspired and motivated to advance the practice of ABC Learning Design within the EUGLOH Alliance. Building on the success of the Szeged event, two additional workshops are scheduled for next year – at the University of Alcalá and the University of Porto – further strengthening EUGLOH’s commitment to innovative, collaborative approaches to educational development.
