Science takes center stage in Szeged this month as the University of Szeged once again opens its doors to the public for Researchers’ Night. Held on September 26–27, 2025, the event will feature more than 400 diverse and engaging programs. Visitors are invited to experience the wonder of discovery firsthand, be inspired, and explore the opportunities offered by a career in research.
Researchers’ Night is a public celebration of science, taking place this year on Friday and Saturday, September 26–27. In 2025, all twelve faculties of the University of Szeged will take part in this special event, offering everything from lab tours and lectures to playful experiments, science quests, and interactive workshops. The József Attila Study and Information Center (TIK) – along with the Klebelsberg Library and Archives – will also welcome visitors with thematic highlights.
The University of Szeged has unveiled a lineup of more than 400 programs for Researchers’ Night, offering something for curious minds from all walks of life. Printed program booklets are available in most university buildings, as well as in elementary and secondary schools across the county. A PDF version of the booklet is also available here (please scroll down in the PDF for English version).

Reflecting its commitment to cultural diversity, the University of Szeged is offering a wide selection of programs in English, listed on pages 69–77 of the program booklet.
At the Katalin Karikó Exhibition in TIK, visitors who successfully complete a science quiz will have the chance to win an SZTE gift package. Titled Findings from the Lab – mRNA / Karikó / HPIC, the exhibition was created by the Institute of Biology at the Faculty of Science and Informatics and follows the story of Nobel Prize-winning professor Katalin Karikó, who achieved worldwide recognition for her groundbreaking mRNA research. At the same venue, visitors can also step into the fascinating world of fruit flies that journeyed into space and explore the pioneering experiments carried out within Hungary’s HUNOR astronaut program.
Alongside science-focused exhibitions, the event also offers cultural and lifestyle programs. Music lovers can look forward to a special session hosted by the Béla Bartók Faculty of Arts: a journey into the world of woodwind instruments, featuring flutist Laura Varga. For those interested in sustainability, TIK will host a relaxed, eco-friendly Clothes Exchange, where visitors can swap unwanted clothes for new favorites.
Some programs require prior registration. University of Szeged students and staff can sign up at https://modulo.szte.hu/szteportal, while members of the general public are invited to register via https://modulo.szte.hu/e-szte. An English version of the site is also available for international users.
