During the first week of the semester, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Szeged hosted its 3rd Career Week for engineering majors, giving students the chance to meet leading industry representatives and even apply for internship positions.
The Faculty of Engineering places a strategic emphasis on supporting students in building successful careers in engineering. In line with this focus, it offers a wide range of workshops, events, and courses designed to connect students with industry partners and ensure their skills remain competitive. As a result, what began nearly a decade ago as the Dual Training and Cooperative Training Fair was expanded into a full Career Week for students in early 2024. This transformation reflects the Faculty’s growing commitment to building strong university–industry links and creating opportunities that bring students closer to the realities of the workplace.

This year’s Dual Training and Cooperative Training Fair, held on September 8 in the Faculty of Engineering’s main building, brought together 14 partner companies and organizations. Among them were Bonafarm Group, BYD, Cleano Kft., Gallicoop Pulykafeldolgozó Zrt., Givaudan Hungary Kft., Hirschmann Car Communication Kft., Linamar Hungary Zrt., Nestlé Hungária Kft., the Szeged Vocational Training Center, SZTE Alma Mater, and the Szeged Toastmasters Club. The fair offered students the chance to meet company representatives, learn about dual and cooperative training internship opportunities, and register for factory visits.
Career Week once again featured the popular Job Interview Simulator, giving students the chance to work directly with HR professionals as well as public speaking and communication experts. During the fall semester, mock job interviews were conducted by representatives from BYD and the Szeged Toastmasters Club. Beyond practicing realistic job interview scenarios, students also received tailored feedback on their résumés, helping them prepare more confidently for future job applications.

“The Dual Training and Cooperative Training Fair has been a highly popular event since 2018. It is held twice a year at the Engineering Dual Training Center, giving our students the opportunity to meet representatives of our most active partner companies and explore the possibilities they offer,” said Dr. István Péter Szabó, Head of the Center. “We are especially pleased that alongside the fair – which draws hundreds of students – the Job Interview Simulator, featured during Career Week, is also attracting increasing interest. Building on this momentum, we are preparing an even more diverse and engaging program for the upcoming Career Week in February 2026,” he added.
