The Directorate for International Affairs and Public Relations of the University of Szeged organised a Christmas Afternoon for Indonesian students in the lobby of the Rector's Department.
The young people from Indonesia enriched the life of national and international students of the University, second time this year, with their rich culture, history, language and special food.
The Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), is a merit based scholarship programme provided by the Indonesian government, which offers Indonesian students a semester at some of the most prestigious, internationally recognised universities in the world. This year Awardees could participate in courses offered by 7 faculties: Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies, Faculty of Economics & Business Studies, Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering and by the Faculty of Agriculture. 46 young Indonesian students were chosen to continue their studies at the University of Szeged in the 2022/2023 Academic Year. In addition to their academic duties IISMA awardees were also responsible for organizing and carrying out two major events: the Batik Day and the Modern Heroes Day, which were very popular among SZTE students, academic and non-academic staff members.

The Christmas afternoon held in the Department of Rector's Office of the SZTE, where traditional Hungarian dishes were also served, was to conclude the programme, show gratitude and say goodbye to the IISMA students. SZTE staff expressed their appreciation to Indonesian students for all they brought to the university this semester: cultural diversity, openness, talent, vision and cooperation.

Students were welcomed by Edit Tanács Bundzsákné Dr., Head of the International Mobility Centre of SZTE. In her opening speech she highlighted the Indonesian students' academic and non-academic achievements and expressed her appreciation that they had chosen the University of Szeged as their study abroad destination, while praising them for organising such successful and colourful programmes in the fall semester of this academic year.

Colleagues from the Faculties, and from the Directorate for International Affairs also took part in the ice-breaker games which allowed participants to mingle and share the highs and lows of the semester and for students in particular, the time spent here at the institution & Hungary. Each IISMA Awardees received their SZTE T-shirt as a memory from the University of Szeged and as a reminder that they are now part of the University forever.
The event was supported by the RRF-2.1.2-21-2022-00012 Complex Digital Transformation – Intelligent Gear Change project.
The project is part of Hungary's Recovery and Resilience Plan.
