Students studying in Hungary with Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship received the "Stipendium Hungariucm Excellence Award" from the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the 26th of October. Two students of the University of Szeged were honoured at the prestigious event.
"Stipendium Hungaricum Welcome Event" was the title of the prestigious event that has been held on the 26th of October at the Radisson Blu Béke Hotel in Budapest. The event gave recent Stipendium Hungaricum students the opportunity to get to know Hungary, its history, culture and life in general.
Dr. Orsolya Pacsay-Tomassich, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, welcomed the newbies from all over the country. Following her speech, the State Secretary, together with Gábor Dobos, Director of the Tempus Public Foundation Study In Hungary Unit, presented the Excellence Awards to Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship holders who have achieved outstanding study achievements and made an outstanding contribution to the development of the Stipendium Hungaricum community.
Two Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship holders with excellent academic results at the University of Szeged, Nguyen Hang Thi Nguyet, a student of the Faculty of Economics, Business Administration and Management BSc program, and Theodore Waltgins, a student of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, Nursing BSc program, were awarded with honour and cash prize for the development of the Stipendium Hungaricum community.
“It is a great honour for us, as the two winners were chosen from among more than 700 Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship holders from Szeged." - Said Leona Jerney Dr., Head of the Office for International Full-time Programs, who personally accompanied the students to the award ceremony. "It is always a pleasure to see exceptional young people of whom we can be proud of and who can further the reputation of the University of Szeged in the world." - She added.
After the Secretary of State's welcome and the award ceremony, distinguished students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music performed unique folk music pieces, followed by lunch, where the participants could share their experiences and impressions of Hungary.
After the lunch break, the students were taken on a city tour of Budapest. They could get to know the most important sights of the capital and deepen their knowledge of Hungarian culture through sensitivity training.
The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship winners continue to enhance the reputation of the University of Szeged, which is celebrating its centenary, and this is also reflected in the international rankings, as the proportion of international students is constantly increasing.
