What is the Erasmus+ programme? How and where can applicants travel? Why is it good to be an Erasmus student? Those who attended the Erasmus+ Day organised by the International Mobility Centre (IMC) among others, received answers to these questions.
The International Mobility Centre organised an information session for university citizens on 4 November 2021 to present the wide range of international mobility opportunities offered by the ERASMUS+ programme. The briefing was held in the Hall Room of the University of Szeged’s Rector’s Office.
Information for students
The Erasmus+ programme provides mobility participants with a key development opportunity to improve their professional, intercultural and foreign language skills. Dr. Edit Tanács Bundzsákné, Head of the International Mobility Centre, welcomed the audience and then gave a presentation on student mobility, during which the audience could get a clear picture about the types of applications, travel destinations, scholarships, their amounts and the application procedure.
Afterwards, Dóra Fehér, President of the Szeged section of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), presented the work of the organisation and highlighted the essence of the reciprocity of the “Students Help Students” (SHS) philosophy. She encouraged the students to join the mentoring scheme, which will allow them to gain experience in an international environment by helping the visiting students in Szeged, while they will be assisted by the students from abroad during their international mobility.
In the students dedicated section, Dr. Jasmine Hussein gave a presentation entitled ‘From Krakow to Thessaloniki’, in which she shared her experiences of her mobility as a bachelor and doctoral student.
"The experience of a lifetime will forever shape my future choices in life, my outlook and my attitude towards many subjects. I am grateful and thankful that I had the opportunity to be immersed in a special life situation through this competition." - Concluded Dr. Jasmine Hussein and also added that during her Erasmus+ studies, her time abroad was greatly facilitated by the members of the ESN mentor network, and she made lifelong friendships with them.
Information for Coordinators
The afternoon programme was dedicated to briefing the academic coordinators. Participating in international mobility requires conscious planning on the part of all applicants, and the help of academic coordinators is crucial in this process.
Tibor Zilahi, the Erasmus+ Institutional Programme Coordinator of the University of Szeged, informed the coordinators about the changes of the Erasmus+ programme, the new elements of mobility and answered the questions raised in an open forum.

At the end of the programme, Dr. Imola Schiffner, Erasmus Faculty Coordinator at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the University of Szeged, shared her experiences. In her opinion, the work spent on the implementation of mobility programmes pays off handsomely, as the new knowledge and experiences gained through Erasmus+ programmes have a decisive impact on the further development of the lives of the outgoing students. The faculty coordinator also reported on the Faculty plans for the future.
