The University of Szeged has taken various steps up in the latest (2021) subject tables of the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. Our institution is the best ranked Hungarian university outside of the capital in both computer and physical sciences. SZTE has moved higher in the list in clinical and health subjects and for the first time this year SZTE has been put on the map of the best universities in the field of psychology.
Subject rankings of the Times Higher Education 2021 have been compiled based on world university ranking criteria such as conditions for education and research, citations, industry income, and international outlook.
This year the Times Higher Education listed 1512 institutions in 11 fields of science. That means 522 more higher education institutions entered the ranking, and yet the University of Szeged continues to hold its high position.
Szeged has stepped higher in the ranking on the clinical and health subject table: compared to the 501-600th place of last year, we stand at the 401-500th place this year, bringing us to the shared second position among Hungarian universities. This table ranks institutions in the fields of medical, dental, pharmaceutical and other health sciences based on their academic and scientific evaluations.
For the first time this year SZTE has appeared on the THE psychology subject table. This table lists higher educational institutions that are leading in the fields of educational, sport, business, animal and clinical psychology. SZTE has appeared on the 501+Th place and with this it is among the three best Hungarian institutions on the list.
Last year was the first time the University of Szeged appeared on the computer science subject table, and this year we maintained out position of 601-800 from 827 universities although this year almost 80 more universities were listed. The University of Szeged is in the joint first place among Hungarian campuses and it is the best university outside of the capital in the field of computer sciences.
The life sciences subject table lists the University of Szeged at the 601-800th place out of 895 universities worldwide. This subject table highlights the universities that are leading across agriculture, biological sciences and sport science.
The physical sciences subject table considers excellence in education of the fields of mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, geology, environmental, earth and marine sciences. The University of Szeged has maintained its position in these fields, it remained the 501-600 range although this year there were about a hundred more universities in the pool. Our institution is yet again the second best Hungarian university and the best campus outside of the capital.
