1. What is your motto?
Our thoughts become our words our words become our actions, our actions become our character, and our character becomes our fate.
2. Why did you choose the University of Szeged as your study destination?
I chose the university of Szeged because not only it offered the degree that was relevant to me in English, but Also it was accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) organisation and Szeged university itself was ranked the best university in Hungary. Speaking of which, Hungary’s affordable cost of living as an EU member was also a big factor of me choosing this university, and Szeged’s quietness and intellectual environment gives it a unique charm.
3. How do you find the student life here in Szeged?
As I mentioned briefly before Szeged can be labelled as a university city so generally that means it provides a calm and slow-paced lifestyle, whether I wanted to study in the modern TIK library or have a walk along the Tisza river. The city is also relatively small so almost every amenity is in walking distance, that was a big factor in me starting the gym regularly and making significant progress, I also enjoyed attending the occasional festival now and then to feel rejuvenated.
4. What did you learn from traveling abroad to pursue your higher education?
Living outside my parents home for the first time in my life has taught me resilience and mental fortitude, as I had to do everything for myself without anyone’s help, I had to learn basic survival skills,(cooking and cleaning) and even got a part time job for the first time in my life which made me feel proud.
5. What does your day look like outside of classrooms?
If I’m talking about a day where I have class from 8 in the morning to midday, then I’ll go have lunch at my favourite Turkish restaurant with some colleagues, and then I’ll go study in library until 6 pm and catch my weekly football match with my friends.
6. What is your favourite subject?
My favourite subject is doing business in Asia because I am interested in international business and real-life case studies about market entry strategies, also our teacher is exceptionally good at teaching, and he used his real-life experience as examples to teach us the subject.
7. Name one thing the University has provided you?
The university of Szeged has provided me with an opportunity to have quality education and a prestigious degree in an international environment and a city with high quality of life, which allowed me to grow exponentially as a person.
8. What is your favourite spot in Szeged?
My favourite spot is the local gym I go to, and Lapos beach at the riverbank during summer where I like to play volleyball.
9. What do you advise those who are thinking about studying abroad?
I advise them to be brave and resilient, and I’d like to remind them that it will all be worth it at the end of this transformative journey.
10. Describe a situation that has happened to you in Szeged and left an impact on you?
In the first day of uni after we had a class I was hanging out with some friends, and after we chatted for a while one of them said to me “you know your smart right?” And that impacted me because I’ve never been seen like that before, and I was glad I am finally in an environment where intellect is appreciated.
11. What are your future plans?
I would like to pursue my career goals, that consists of improving my b2 in Hungarian and pursuing an MSc in international management and also getting into the management consulting industry.
12. Any other thoughts that come to your mind that you would like to share as a closing sentence?
Studying in Szeged has allowed to make my childhood dream of studying abroad come true and from now on I hope that I’ll continue developing my skills, being a lifelong learner, and building a powerful network while being proud of how far I’ve made, knowing I’m on the right path.
