Participating in the second MICROPLASTICdays Shaping the future of microplastic research (24-27. march) conference and workshop in Ljubljana, Alexia Balla (final year PhD student) spent three days at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology.

The first day focused on current and future metrology and chemometrics approaches in nano- and microplastics research. Following the technical lectures, a practical workshop for young researchers provided insights into the basics of chemometrics. The latest scientific results, impact assessments and proposed solutions for nano- and microplastics were presented on the second day. On the third day, the participants visited a laboratory to see different analytical instruments, such as the plastic particle size analyser, FTIR, and other instruments, that were used to study chemical composition.

The event provided valuable insights into the methodology and practical possibilities of nano- and micro-plastics research.

Participation in the event was funded by the PLAGROSYS project 2024-1.2.3-HU-RIZONT-2024-00010.
