New Year's resolutions start off with a bang every January, but by February many people are just shrugging it off. Why? Because we want too much, too fast. "This year I'm going to exercise every day, eat only healthy and perfect my time management in a month" - sound familiar? But big commitments like this can quickly wear you out, leaving you with more failure than motivation.
What if you did it differently this year? You don't have to achieve everything at once! For example, learning a new skill, completing an interesting course or taking a small step towards your mental health can be a much more sustainable goal than consciously introducing crisis management into your own life. It's also a great idea to try a new hobby - it could be baking, photography or even gardening if you have space at home. If you're interested in something less manual, learn about exciting new technologies like AI!
Starting with small goals is not a failure, it's a smart strategy. If you take smaller steps, not only will it be easier to stick to your plans, but each goal you achieve can give you momentum for the next one. Remember: New Year's resolutions aren't about changing your whole life in a month, they're about starting to build. Starting small is cooler than you think!
If you'd like to be inspired by a little of this, or reward yourself with credits for achieving your goals in addition to the joy of success, choose a course that will help you position yourself well in the job market and even earn you automatically transferred credits!
The Coursera for SZTE team wishes you a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!
