Developing resilience, adaptability and personal growth in the first year transition

How can we equip first-year students with the skills and mindset they need to put down roots at university while growing wings for their future?

The transition to higher education demands more than academic knowledge – it requires students to develop resilience, adaptability, and agile thinking. These competencies are critical not only for first-year success but for lifelong learning and career readiness. Creating spaces for holistic development and student flourishing

How can we create supportive environments – physical, social, and institutional – where first-year students feel safe, valued, and empowered to thrive?

The first year of higher education is often marked by stress, uncertainty, and significant life changes. Building a sense of belonging and providing effective support systems are essential for student well-being, retention, and success.
