We are happy to announce that we are pursuing authorisation to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. We are currently a candidate school preparing for authorisation.
The IB Diploma Programme is an academic programme aimed at students aged 16-19. Its goal is to educate caring and open-minded individuals who can make the world a more peaceful place through international-mindedness and understanding. These are reflected in the IB learner profile, a list of ten attributes that highlight the goals of our education:

The Diploma Programme curriculum consists of studies in six subject groups:
- Studies in Language and Literature, also known as Language A (students’ mother tongue)
- Language Acquisition, also known as Language B (a second or additional language)
- Individuals and Societies
- Sciences
- Mathematics
- The Arts
In addition, the curriculum includes three interdisciplinary components, intended to develop students’ learning and thinking skills in a wholistic way. We call these components DP core:
- Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
- Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS)
- Extended Essay (EE)

These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that SZTE Báthory István Gyakorló Gimnázium believes is important for our students.
