A new development will be available for Coursera for SZTE users in the Coursera module from September 2024. From now on, the completion of online content in the module, which is specifically designed to help people prepare for and enter the workplace, can be demonstrated with a digital badge alongside the online certificate.
What are the badges for?
In the course of the Career Office's labour market research, employers and prospective employees, i.e. students at the University of Szeged, shared their experiences on what skills they consider important for starting and building a career. In addition to digital skills, problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills and openness to learning were high on the list of the final results. To ensure that these skills can be integrated into all university curricula, two credits worth of career focused study materials will be available in the Coursera module.
What are badges for?
- They are credible: the badge certifies the completion of a complex selection of courses.
- Professional recognition: increasingly recognised by more and more employers, Coursera badges can add colour to your CV or LinkedIn profile, highlighting your professional development and up-to-date knowledge.
- They are highly visible: badges also provide a visual representation of the competences and skills you have acquired.
- They increase online presence: badges can be shared on online platforms such as LinkedIn or other social media platforms, which can help build a personal brand and expand your professional network.
- They help build careers: badges demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development, which can be particularly important in fast-changing industries.
- They make job search easier: employers often give preference to candidates who can demonstrate that they have the right skills for the job.
What badges are there to choose from?
In the Coursera module, you can earn four digital badges for completing a selection of career-starting selections:
1) Preparing for the job market
This set of courses prepares you for an online career. Learn how to create an ATS-optimised ((Applicant Tracking System-optimised) CV with Canva, build a LinkedIn profile, prepare for interviews and fit into your new job. You can also improve your teamwork and time management skills.
2) Develop your problem-solving skills!
Develop creative and critical thinking skills with this course package, which supports your career with practical projects and theoretical training. Learn the 5 Whys of problem solving and the design thinking process to implement ideas effectively. You can also learn the Miro app to help you put what you learn into practice.
3) Improve your self-awareness and effectiveness
Discover new dimensions of personal development with Coursera courses. Learn how to manage stress, increase your self-esteem and apply time management techniques to improve your efficiency and quality of life. Clear and practical materials provide you with immediately applicable tips for everyday challenges.
4) Effective communication at work
Improve your communication skills and teamwork with Coursera courses! Knowledge in interpersonal skills, presentation techniques and cross-cultural communication team collaboration can be applied immediately.
How to get the badges?
Fellow members of the University of Szeged can log in to Coursera for SZTE with their Neptun code and password, where they will find the badges in the Coursera module. The services of Coursera for SZTE are available to all fellow members of the University of Szeged free of charge and without any restrictions.
