build4good, an initiative of New America is a summer intern-mentorship program for post-secondary students and nonprofit organizations that aims to inspire a network of future leaders to develop civically minded technology, discover public interest technology and social impact careers, and help nonprofits harness the power of technology for social good.
build4good are recruiting our 5th cohort of build4good interns, and reaching out to those who may know of higher ed students interested in a summer 2024 internship.
They recruit and match interns who are knowledgeable in computer science, technology, and design, and their interests with mission-driven nonprofit host organizations. Throughout the summer, the build4good team provides mentoring and skill-building workshops with the cohort of interns, while the students complete projects with their host organizations.
Student applications are due at 11:59 pm ET on March 1, 2024. We will be hosting virtual student application workshops to help interested student applicants answer questions, provide guidance on curating resumes, and how applicants can share experiences and interests. Students can choose of the two workshops to attend:
January 22, 2024, from 6-6:30 pm ET, Zoom: https://newamerica.zoom.us/j/99988294632.
February 8, 2024, from 6-6:30 pm ET, Zoom: https://newamerica.zoom.us/j/94236226947.
Host organizations gain access to students with skills such as website design and development, app design and development, back-end development, data visualizations including interactive web maps, data analytics, expanding online community engagement, and addressing privacy/security challenges. Host organizations are expected to pay their interns at least $20/hr. Potential host organizations can complete an interest form or reach out to us via email.
