Effective water resource management

Factors endangering the provision of clean drinking water and related solutions.


How does clean drinking water end up our glass? What ensures and what threatens the availability of clean drinking water? What solutions do we have to address these threats?

During the course, you wil learn about the factors that endanger to the purity of drinking water in Hungary and around the world and you will discover their effective management.
With your team, you will act as engineers, discovering the key issues on your own, from getting to know the problems to ways of managing them and suggesting alternative solutions.

Number of planned contact hours: 8 hours
Prerequisites: none

Course requirements:
- Project work: consisting of 3 subtasks
1. Understanding the problem (e.g. nitrate load in groundwater)
2. Problem solving (e.g. prevention of nitrate from entering groundwater, nitrate removal procedures, etc.)
3. Developing alternative solutions (brainstorming based on the accumulated knowledge, theoretical solutions e.g. nitrate groundwater extraction, purification and re-injection).

Format: report, PPT presentation
Requirements:
10-15 page summary of subtasks 1 and 2 each, 1 page summary of subtask 3

20 minutes oral PPT presentation of findings for each subtask - 60 minutes in total
