What is the minimum age requirement?


Applicants are required to be over the age of 18 in the year of application for admission to the degree programmes.


For admission to the Foundation Year for Health Scienece programmes, applicants are required to be over the age of 17 in the year of application.


Please note that adulthood period in Hungary starts at the age of 18. Underage students may be subject to age-based restrictions regarding matters such as signing contract with the landlord, opening their own bank account and much more.



Who is qualified to apply for admission to one of the English Language Programmes offered by the University of Szeged?


Applications are accepted from graduates of accredited high schools or colleges/universities. Competence in English language, oral and written, is part of the entry requirement for the University.


According to the decision of the Admission Committee of the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Health Sciences of and Social Studies, students who have failed in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or English Language in the final year of their high school studies are not entitled to apply to our University.


Also, students who have failed in any subject in the final year of their high school studies are not entitled to apply to the Faculty of Dentistry.



How long will it take for the University of Szeged to review my submitted documents?


Please allow for 2-3 weeks for the University of Szeged to access and process all of your submitted documents.



What shall I do if I would like to visit the University?


Individual visitors cannot be offered the opportunity to take part in guided campus tour. However, if you would like to arrange an appointment with one our friendly admissions officers please contact us in advance:


What is the minimum level of English language proficiency required for admission to the Foundation Year Programme?


All teaching at University of Szeged is carried out in English (with the exception of Latin and Hungarian language teaching) and tutors must be convinced that you have sufficient fluency in written and spoken English to cope with your course from the start. Therefore, all non-native English-speaking applicants must satisfy one of the following requirements:


TOEFL iBT: overall score of 51

TOEIC : overall score of 490

IELTS: overall score of 4.5 (with at least 4.5 in each of the four components)
