The University of Szeged offers engineering programmes both on a bachelor and master level. The Faculty of Agriculture has been committed to ensure high-quality agricultural higher education and to provide students with a competitive and recognized qualification, therefore those who are interested in agriculture may apply for Agricultural Engineering BSc programme. The aim of the BSc program is to train agricultural engineers capable of realizing production, leader, management, controlling and organization work in agricultural enterprises of different size and type. The ranking of the Agriculture and forestry program at the University of Szeged according to the 2019 QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings by Subject is the 201-250th. After having graduated from our Food Engineering MSc, professionals are involved in the development of innovative applications in agricultural technology, biotechnology and processing of raw food materials to produce healthy food products.

Food Engineering (MSc) programme is devoted to students who wish to become skilled in the fields of production, technology, planning of operations, management of economic processes, and development of products, quality assurance, and tender-writing taking into account technical and economic aspects. Students studying Engineering come from 21 countries and represented, 60 International students
Erasmus Student Network established 15 years ago a good cooperation with the University. ESN Szeged is a volunteer based mentor organization with more than 40 mentors per semester. They are helping students in everyday situations, like going to the doctor, finding accommodation, finding the University buildings and of course translating. They have an Office in the Rector’s Office building, where they are open on business days. They are also organizing various programmes during the semester, like pub nights, cultural events and quiz nights.
Last year they organized 55 events, had 50 mentors, and 850 mentored students and they reached 130,000 students via their Facebook posts.
International students at the Faculty of Agriculture are accommodated in twin rooms of the Dormitory. It is located in the campus area. In the dormitory building, a restaurant is open for lunch time 7 days a week. Free wifi is available in both the faculty buildings and in the dormitory. All printed and online resources (as well as the services of both the agricultural library at the Faculty) and SZTE Klebelsberg Library in Szeged are open for international students.
Basketball court and gym at the campus, swimming pool in the town are available for students. The integration of the international students is facilitated by student mentors of the Faculty. International students are welcome to all regular celebrations and international programs of the Faculty as well as to the parties organized by the students’ union.
The Faculty of Engineering is a technical faculty with 50 years of educational and R&D experience, an appealing choice for potential students in BSc and MSc programs, highly qualified and acknowledged faculty, a perfect balance of theoretical and practical training based on extensive industrial relations. In accordance with today’s needs – is the one of the most important bases of engineering education at the University of Szeged and in the Southern Great Plain Region with its highly qualified experts in possession of academic degrees, and with modernly equipped training rooms and laboratories. The Faculty trains at the BSc, MSc levels in numerous fields of engineering sciences both in Hungarian and in English: Food Engineer.
Graduates of the Agricultural Engineering BSc will be able to complete tasks in enterprises dealing with the processing and marketing of agricultural products and also realizing professional management duties, analysing and controlling commercial, economic processes in connection with agriculture.
Food engineers will be equipped with the necessary analytical skills to work on food security and food analytical projects. Students who graduate from the Faculty usually choose their carriers in the sector of food and beverages at production companies; at research institutes, at biotechnological laboratories or international advisory companies.
