The Directorate for Academic Affairs’ event, the Educational Quality Development Days, will be held again on 29-30 June 2026. Launched in September 2025 under the theme of Academic Review, this year's central topic is The Educator as Quality Assurer.

Over two days, participants are invited to attend workshops that provide an opportunity to address the everyday challenges of teaching in a collaborative, systemic way.

The workshops will offer practical methodological solutions — including AI, interactivity, and student success strategies — that can be directly integrated into individual teaching practice, individual or joint departmental course development, programme redesign, or any stage of educational quality improvement.

The event aims to support, within an inspiring professional environment:

• educators,
• programme directors,
• faculty leadership, and
• faculty quality assurance professionals.

Our goal is to foster knowledge sharing and a quality-conscious teaching mindset, which — through the dissemination of good practices — directly contributes to the success of programmes, faculties, and the university as a whole.

Format of the Educational Quality Development Days:

• Two-day programme
• 60–90 minute workshops
• Facilitated by faculty and central workshop leaders
• Open to faculty and central colleagues

• 2026. 06. 29. 12.30-14.00 Timothy Yaw Acheampong - Beata Udvari: Teaching with Outcomes in Mind: Aligning Methods with ILOs

Teaching methodology plays a crucial role in achieving quality education, alongside the learning environment, teaching quality, materials, and student engagement. Since different Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) call for different approaches, choosing the right method matters. In this workshop, we will share examples of how they align different methodologies such as experiential learning, flipped classroom, and serious games with specific ILOs by drawing on their experiences from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

• 2026. 06. 30. 10.00-11.30 Lehel Balogh: Attitudinal challenges arising from cultural differences in English– and Hungarian–language university education: pedagogical misdirections vs. constructive solutions

During the workshop, we will examine a number of situations in which students’ cultural backgrounds significantly influence which types of teaching behaviors and styles they are receptive to and to which they are not, drawing primarily on experiences with students in the English- and Hungarian-language programs at the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Medicine, while also analyzing successful and not so effective teacher-student interactions observed at universities abroad.

As workshop places are limited due to the interactive format, registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a workshop reaches capacity, additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
