The University of Szeged has once again secured a place among the world’s leading universities in the latest Round University Ranking (RUR), published on June 9, 2026. Finishing among the top 25 percent of institutions worldwide, SZTE also performed strongly at the national level, ranking third in Hungary.
The Round University Ranking (RUR) is an international ranking system that assesses university performance across four key dimensions: teaching (40%), research (40%), internationalization (10%), and financial sustainability (10%). Published annually, it evaluates more than 2,300 leading universities from 95 countries using 20 performance indicators. Its methodology draws on three major sources of evidence: data provided by universities, publication and citation performance, and reputation-based measures of institutional standing.
In 2026, the University of Szeged placed among the top quarter of universities worldwide while securing third place nationally. The result further reinforces SZTE's consistent presence in international university rankings and highlights its standing among Hungary's leading higher education institutions.
