25 Indonesian students are spending the autumn semester at the University of Szeged (SZTE).

Our university has been awarded to participate in the Indonesian government's Excellence Scholarship Programme. A total of 240 universities from around the world applied for the programme, from which the Indonesian government selected 60 universities. Internationally, only two Hungarian universities are represented, SZTE and the University of Pécs (PTE).

For the first time this year, the Indonesian government has launched the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), a scholarship programme that offers Indonesian students a semester at some of the world's most prestigious universities. In the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, 25 Indonesian students will be able to pursue their studies at our university.

The aim of the Excellence Scholarship is to enable 1,000 Indonesian students to enter a multicultural environment at the start of the programme, and 10,000 students per year from the following academic year. The purpose is - initiated in the spirit of international mobility - is to enable participants to gain professional knowledge and multicultural skills at the world's top universities, thus improving their employability.

Recently, the Directorate for International Affairs & Public Relations organised an online information session for Indonesian students who have been awarded the scholarship, and our staff were pleased to hear about the determination and commitment of the Indonesian students towards our University. The students can take courses offered by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the Faculty of Agriculture, the Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences to replace their compulsory elective subjects in their home country.

The IISMA scholarship programme, funded by the Indonesian Government, is an excellent example of the short-term courses that are increasingly in demand on the international higher education market, because the intercultural environment contributes to internationalisation; moreover the presence of foreign students adds colour to the already vibrant international student life in the city.

Besides, the participation of the University of Szeged in the Excellence Scholarship Programme contributes to deepening our cooperation with Indonesian universities and enhances the international recognition of the University.
