New PPE Has Been Delivered to Clinics of Szeged

Protective gears delivered from China were distributed to the University of Szeged. Surgical masks, protective coats, rapid tests were included in the consignment delivered by Waberer’s Ltd. on the 7th April 2020.

Semmelweis University was commissioned by the Ministry for Innovation and Technology of Hungary to place an order on PPE from China, and hospitals of the University of Debrecen, the University of Pécs and clinics in Budapest also benefit from the consignment, including 57,000 masks and 5,000 protective coats as well as protective gears, googles and rapid tests, according to the press release issued by Ministry for Innovation and Technology of Hungary.

Universities offering medical and healthcare-related training are key determinants of the Hungarian higher education system. Clinics operated by these universities play an important role in certain elements of the Hungarian healthcare and maintain one quarter of inpatient-care practice activities.

The Hungarian Government is doing all within its remit to improve PPE stocks in the country. Protective gears necessary in preventing transmission of novel coronavirus of large batches are mainly at disposal in China. In addition to more than 7 million surgical masks and 3 million pairs of gloves, 100,000 rapid tests as well as medication were distributed to Hungary. PPE offered by Fudan University – which intends to establish a campus in Hungary – has recently landed in Budapest. More protective equipment and tools are expected to be delivered to the country in the future.

SZTE Experience

I’m a Ph.D. student from Ghana and enrolled in a scholarship program. I heard about the university for the first time from a friend as a peaceful and friendly place to be. Indeed, the city of Szeged is a quiet, and peaceful place to live. My supervisor and HOD’S approach to teaching gives me a better insight and understanding of the program. The city is very friendly, and I go shopping and walking in my free time. The Dom square is a magnificent landmark, and the surrounding buildings are excellent reference points of a branded city of natural beauty. The most attractive place for me in Szeged is the zoo. Hungary is a beautiful country with the rivers such as the Danube, Tisza and the surrounding bridges. My expectations of the university and study environment keep improving by the day, and I’m delighted. I will recommend the university to because of the quality educational system for career development.

I heard about Stipendium Hungaricum from a fellow countryman. I would love to teach at a university one day, but a Doctorate degree is often required in order to do so. That is why I came to Szeged, where I am currently working on my doctoral thesis in educational science – my special field of interest is scientific literacy of students. Life is completely different in Namibia; it is mostly a rural country and agriculture is still hardly mechanised and many homesteads in villages in the countryside are built of wood. The weather is totally different from the one in Szeged, the cold and icy weather caught me by surprise after returning from Christmas holiday, I didn’t have proper shoes so my feet were constantly freezing.
