A confidential and free support service for SZTE students
The primary aim of online psychological counseling is to provide a safe space where you can put your thoughts and concerns into words. Writing about a problem often helps you gain a clearer perspective on your situation, emotions, and personal patterns. Through professional feedback, you may discover new ways of understanding your difficulties and identifying possible solutions.
The University of Szeged offers a free online psychological counseling service for all enrolled students. Messages submitted through the University's MODULO platform are received by a qualified mental health professional. You may contact us with a wide range of personal, academic, or life-management concerns, including:
- Family difficulties and conflicts
- Relationship issues
- Career planning and career-related uncertainty
- Study-related challenges
- Stress, burnout, and overload
- Loneliness, fears, and anxiety
- Addictive behaviors
- Time management difficulties
- Equal opportunity and accessibility-related concerns
- Preparation for job interviews and career transitions
Our professionals are also experienced in supporting students with disabilities and special educational needs.
The service is anonymous: neither the student nor the counselor knows the other's identity beyond the information voluntarily shared during the counseling process.
If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward, writing a message can be a helpful first step.
How can online counseling help?
Sometimes it is difficult to judge whether a problem requires professional support. You may feel uncertain about seeking help or unsure about the seriousness of your concerns.
Online counseling can help you:
- clarify your thoughts and emotions,
- gain an outside perspective,
- better understand your situation,
- explore possible coping strategies,
- reduce emotional burden,
- assess whether additional support may be beneficial.
Important Information
Online counseling is not psychotherapy and does not replace psychiatric treatment or crisis intervention.
Some difficulties require face-to-face counseling, psychotherapy, psychiatric care, or medical treatment. If it becomes clear during the counseling process that additional professional support would be beneficial, your counselor will inform you and discuss possible options with you.
Because responses are typically provided within one week, online counseling is not suitable for psychological emergencies or crisis situations. If you need immediate support, please seek emergency or crisis services in your area.

The University of Szeged Student Counseling Center is committed to protecting your privacy.
- Messages are not shared with unauthorized persons.
- Only the counselor communicating with you has access to your correspondence.

- Correspondence is used solely for counseling and, where applicable, anonymous scientific research purposes, in accordance with professional ethical standards and data protection regulations.
